One World Discussions In Cultural Understanding

Wednesday September 15th and October 13th
Opening our eyes and ears, we take in this changing world. There is much to celebrate, and there is much upon which to improve.

We hear about conflict and wars between nations, tribes, races, religions and cultures, and even within communities and families.  We know that much of this strife is due to misunderstandings across differences.  Assumptions get made, propaganda spread, and the truths get lost under the heartache of avoidable violence and destruction.

As seasoned citizens, we long to see peace and justice in our lifetime.  We may not be able to change the world, but we CAN educate ourselves and break through our own misunderstandings of the differences in our own community.  Join us on Wednesday September 15th and October 13th, from 10:45am-11:45am for guided conversations, facilitated by Waing Waing (pictured above) addressing, in September: “How Elders are Treated in Society, and How We Can Shape Public Opinion of Aging,” and in October:  “Immigrants and Refugees, Exploring the Issues.”

Volunteer Recognition

September 21, 2010 – 3:00
Please come and let us thank you for all you do for the Center.  The Center could not operate at the capacity that it does if there was not the active volunteerism that we have.

You are all very important to us!  Come and listen to the Pirates and sample the Hors d’ oeuvres from Salty’s.RSVP to Margie -- 206-932-4044 ext. 8 by September 15th.

Aging Your Way Gathering

Join us at an event in your neighborhood to develop your vision and ideas for a community that you could grow old in. Jim Diers, community development expert and professional facilitator, leads participants in identifying what they care about and creating their vision of what their community will need to look like.  Action teams are formed and people are empowered to use their skills, knowledge and passion to make their vision a reality.
