Larry Wymer is one of the busiest people you’ll ever meet, but he still finds time to volunteer at the Stop ‘N Shop. He began volunteering with us a year and a half ago as a compliance officer during the pandemic, and now he does a little of everything, including overseeing the extensive DVD, CD and book sections.
A licensed civil-traffic engineer, Larry now does occasional consulting and spends time volunteering and serving in leadership positions in West Seattle.
In college Larry was a member of the track and field team and he now competes at the Masters level in shotput, discus, hammer and javelin. Since 2015 he’s been the throwing coach for West Seattle High School’s track and field team where he strives to be an impactful mentor, building each athlete’s self- esteem by celebrating every improvement and personal best.
As if all this isn’t enough, Larry also works part-time at Aegis Assisted Living in Admiral as their driver, life enrichment associate and host of “Larry’s Monday Movie Matinee.”
We asked Larry what his favorite part of volunteering at the Stop ‘N Shop is and he said: “Greeting and providing great customer service to the shoppers and meeting the
generous neighbors that bring in donations to help make it all possible.”
