Licensed Psychologist Available to Meet with You
Frances Parks, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist who has a special interest in working with seniors and is able to accept Medicare payment for services. She works with persons dealing with issues of life transitions, anxiety, depression, and loss and grief. She received her doctorate from the U. of Texas and recently completed the Certificate in Gerontology at the University of Washington. The Social Workers at the Senior Center of West Seattle are available by appointment Monday – Friday. They provide assistance with the following:
- applications for senior housing
- utility discount programs
- in-home support/outreach program
- transportation programs
- family counseling and support related to aging
- referrals and followup with community agencies are provided as needed.
Our Westside Friends program matches caring volunteers with West Seattle elders in need of companionship. Volunteers needed. See our VOLUNTEER PAGE for info.

Low Vision Support Group
Wednesdays, 1 – 2 pm: 12/13, 1/10, 2/142nd Wednesdays

Open to all people dealing with vision problems. During our group, we share tips on managing our lives with vision loss, share resources, and support one another. We often have outside speakers presenting to us and sharing various vision enhancing equipment.
Caregiver Support Group
Wednesdays, 3 – 4:30 pm: 12/27, 1/24, 2/284th Wednesday

Come share your challenges, frustrations, successes with other caregivers who "get it." The experience exchange among caregivers will provide you with free peer support on a monthly basis and might just give you an energy boost to keep you at your best.
